Don’t Shrink Back!

Are you sensing God stirring a dream within your heart? Maybe it’s something that seems so daunting you’re tempted to water it down so that it becomes more manageable. Or maybe ongoing delays have diminished your resolve to the point that you’re questioning God’s leading.

Some friends and I were in a similar place recently. We were meeting to plan a rather large event that will take place next year. As I considered the amount of time required to pull this off, I allowed wishy-washy second guessing to replace the eternal, sure Word of the Lord.

A few days later one of the ladies sent an email containing a verse which spoke directly to my heart: “But my righteous one shall live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back. But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.” (Hebrews 10:38-39)

God speaks these words to encourage those who are feeling weary and discouraged:

Don’t shrink back! Don’t throw away your confidence! Don’t settle for less than God’s best!

It reminds me of one of my favorite faith-building verses:

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” (1 Corinthians 4:20)

God’s Kingdom Power is not wimpy, weak, ineffective or limited.

Our Almighty God, Lord of Heaven and Earth, is always on the scene and His power is explosive, unstoppable, uncontainable and inextinguishable!

When God unleashes His Kingdom Power – miraculous, supernatural, and unexplainable events begin to take place before our very eyes.

As my friends and I came before the Lord during our meeting, we refused the temptation to take the easy way out. We embraced the truth that from a human perspective we didn’t have the time or the resources to see this God-sized dream through to completion.

We made room for God’s voice, and through His Spirit and His Word we sensed His Presence confirming that this dream was His plan and that we could trust Him to accomplish His purposes. Divine peace enlarged our hearts with eternal perspective.

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power!

Aren’t you grateful for the reminder that Kingdom Power is poured into each one of us as we open our hearts to His presence and walk in His strength? So don’t just talk it out – walk it out!

Lord, ignite within each one of us a fiery faith that refuses to let fears or insecurities water down your purposes for our lives. May we stand firm in Your explosive Kingdom power and refuse to shrink back from our God-ordained paths!
